In the statement released 3-6-2017, in regards to the closing of the RESAs: “…we require quality training at affordable costs for our members. If any agency were to be eliminated from providing training, we must see provisions be put in place to overcome the void that would be created.”

Tonight, the Leadership and Legislative Committee of the WVSFA met in conference call. Earlier today, we learned, unbeknownst to us, that we had supposedly supported HB2973 which would dissolve RESA fire service training and pass the personnel and assets over to WVU, regardless of any other legislation currently introduced that may or may not dissolve all of RESA.
We therefore would like to make it known that we have not signed off on HB2973 as it is written/introduced and we, the West Virginia State Firemen’s Association, stand opposed to this bill.

President, West Virginia State Firemen’s Assn,
