The Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department in Putnam County, lost their Fire Chief, Sunday, due to an ATV accident that occurred on Saturday. Fire Chief, Shane Jividen was in Webster County, to support firefighters there and participate in a charity fund raising event. The ATV he was in, overturned, trapping him, with serious head injuries. He was flown to CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, where he died Sunday evening. Shane was a graduate of Buffalo High School, joined the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department when he was 16 years old, and held several positions before becoming Fire Chief. He was a member of the Brothers In Blue Motorcycle Club, the Putnam County Fireman’s Association, and the West Virginia State Fireman’s Association. He had recently been appointed to the Putnam County Fire Board, attending his first official monthly meeting in August. He was also an organ donor.
Friends may call Thursday Evening, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the West Virginia National Guard Building, in Eleanor. A full Firefighter’s Funeral will be held Friday, September 7, at 11:00 AM at the same location. Any group or department, who would like to participate in the visitation or the procession to the cemetery, will be welcome.
