Trevor Pack, RPM Coordinator with the Mountaineer Challenge Academy gave a presentation at the West Virginia State Firemen’s Convention this past week. He provided a lot of information pertaining to the Academy and it’s mission:
The mission of the West Virginia Mountaineer Challenge Academy is to train and mentor selected at-risk youth to become contributing members of society using the 8 Core Components in a quasi-military environment
during a 22-week residential and one year follow-up Post-Residential program.
MCA is in need of bunker gear and SCBA equipment, along with many other essentials needed to give Firefighter Level 1 instruction to Academy students.
Some fire departments have pledged their support and the WV State Firemen’s Association has pledged support of our communication networks to assist in getting the Academy the tools they need to instruct these young adults in entry level firefighting.
If your department has excess resources at your disposal, please contact Trevor Pack (email@example.com) at 304-791-7905.
The types of equipment needed would be:
Structural firefighting PPE, gloves, pants, boots, bunker coats, helmets, etc.
Hose appliances, hose. etc.
Fire trucks (working, in-service pumpers that have passed a recent pump test).
And many other supplies and equipment.
Please pass this along to the membership of your department.
This is a great program and it is doing great work for the youth of West Virginia.
