Greetings,

For the upcoming 2011 Convention, we’ll be providing several copies of the DVD developed for the “Recruitment and Retention” of Volunteer Firefighters. This video is for delivering to media outlets, such as local television stations and cable t.v. providers for use in “Public Service Announcements”. These PSAs are provided to non-profit groups such as ours to promote what we’re trying to accomplish.

Please only take the videos if you’re planning to actively seek assistance by these t.v. providers in your area.

Otherwise, you may watch the video online by clicking here.

Or, if you already know how to make DVDs from DVD images, you may download the bin file here.

The audio, for radio broadcasts is available here.

To download/play directly to your computer, click here.

For video on smart phones, click here.

Thanks,

John Holstein

Fire departments across the state are short on volunteers, and one local neighborhood would like to see more folks join.

In Bridgeport, there’s currently only 14 volunteer fire fighters, and that’s down from an average of 30.

Officials believe this shortage may be because there’s more testing now than in previous years.

Lt. Scott Wilburn says fighting fires may not be for everyone.

“People should be warned that this is not for everyone. We’ve had people that have joined and were gung-ho about it, but once they got into it, they didn’t make it. It’s a specialized skill set. It really is.”

If you’re over the age of 16 and think you have what it takes to become a volunteer, stop by the Bridgeport Fire Department anytime or call 304-842-8252.
