Autism recognition, response and risk management training sessions will help law enforcement, fire-rescue and emergency medical response, and criminal/juvenile justice professionals recognize the behavioral symptoms and characteristics of a child or adult who has autism, learn basic response techniques, learn about the high risks associated with autism, and will offer suggestions, options and specialized tactics about how to address those risks, increase officer and citizen safety, and avoid litigation. The training can be tailored to meet the needs of local communities and agencies.

We are having Dennis Debbaudt from Autism Risk & Safety Management to provide this training session for us. We are still waiting on to get a confirmation from Dennis on the date of this event in April 2012, it will be held out Hagerstown Community College at 11400 Robinwood Dr Hagerstown, MD 21742-6590. The room that we have booked will hold 130 people and I am checking with them about see if we have a larger reply to this training about being able to have it at another location on their campus. There is a $10 resignation to cover the cost of the room rental and we are working with the college to provide continue education credits for ems and law enforcement providers. This event is open to everyone with most of the focus being on the emergency service providers.

To get a better idea of what this training you can go to Dennis website at: http://www.autismriskmanagement.com/

After we have confirmed the date for this event I will e-mail a flyer to you so that you can e-mail it out to your departments in Berkeley, Jefferson, Morgan, Mineral, Hampshire, Preston, counties.

If you have any other questions please let me know, thanks for helping us get this important information about autism training.

Thank you,

Matt Dittman
