Mark Doty of WVU Fire Service Extension was killed in an ATV rollover accident this morning. Mark was one of the best friends the fire service in West Virginia could have. His leadership at the WVU Extension Service has brought their fire service training to the forefront within the United States fire service training community.

I have worked with Mark on several projects. He was a professional that held himself and his department to a higher standard. A true believer in the fire service community of West Virginia, Mark gave his heart and soul in his commitment to train fellow fire fighters, all over the State of West Virginia and the Nation.

It is with deep regret that I sit here and write this good-bye to Mark. He has left us entirely too soon. The future of the fire service in West Virginia was so much brighter with Mark’s light helping to guide us along the way. Mark, my friend, you will truly be missed.
