There was a public meeting held last night with the State Fire Commission to discuss the upcoming plan to implement a “points system” to the re-certification forms for the fire departments of the State. Several individuals were present at the meeting, including President John Holstein of the West Virginia State Firemen’s Association. The State Fire Marshal presented the information to the Commission and the public whereby a Q&A session was held. Several valid points were brought to the table by the stakeholders. By the end of the meeting, many items were discussed and the new system appeared to be workable by all of those involved.

The Fire Commission will be discussing this issue within their committees today and at the Fire Commission meeting tomorrow.
